Biotin is vital to skin and hoof health. A deficiency of biotin has been associated with dry, brittle, or deformed hooves, tender feet, and unwillingness to stride out. Biotin acts as a co-factor in many of the body's enzymatic reactions and is essential for a horse's production of fatty acids, glycogen production and for the production of proteins.

B Vitamins ( including riboflavin, folic acid, niacin, thiamin, vitamin B6, biotin, and choline) are necessary for the metabolism and formation of proteins, carbohydrates and fats. Vitamin B6 is necessary for the absorption and metabolism of amino acids that are used to manufacture proteins and is essential for muscle building and the formation of red blood cells. A deficiency of B6 impairs hoof and skin regeneration. Choline is critical for normal cell membrane structure.

Methionine and Lysine are essential amino acids and are crucial building blocks that must be present for biotin to do its job. Methionine & Lysine are key amino acids in production of the protein keratin ( the primary protein found in the hoof wall). Keratin promotes a stronger, more flexible, and faster growing hoof.

Cystine is an important sulfur containing amino acid that is important for building proteins in connective tissue needed for sound hoof health. Sulfur is needed to produce many important proteins, including: muscle tissue, hemoglobin, and keratin. Glycine is an amino acid used by the body as a major building block of healthy connective tissue and collagen. Tyrosine supplementation may result in increased performance under stressful conditions. Threoine is an important structural constituent of connective tissues like collagen, elastin, and enamel protein.

Zinc and Copper support hoof structure and hair coat. Zinc deficiencies can impair synthesis of proteins necessary for proper hoof condition and repair. Copper is necessary for cross-linking of protein, collagen, and elastin in the connective tissue of the hoof. Mineral amino acid chelates allow for better utilization and absorption of minerals making them more bioavaiable to the horse. Manganese supports collagen formation. Iodine is an important mineral that supports hoof growth and strength.

Alfalfa and wheat germ ( as quality protein sources) have a beneficial effect on both hoof horn quality and growth. Wheat germ is also an excellent source of B Vitamins.

Feeding Directions For Powder And Pellets:
Initial: (3 to 6 weeks)
Add 3-4 scoops daily to feed.
Maintenance:
Add 1-2 scoops daily to feed.
For more than one scoop, divide between AM and PM if possible.
